SOLS in Timor Leste<br />by Indrani Kopal<br /><br />East Timor has gone through a lot from war and invasion through to independence.<br /><br />The children, many of whom are deeply traumatised and in shock following their exposure to the recent violence and the dislocation from their homes and families.<br /><br />Homes and schools have been damaged and many children are distressed by the loss or absence of family members...<br /><br />Education has been highlighted as a serious priority as half the country's population cannot read.<br /><br />Sols expended its wing to East timor to give back to the children some hope for the future.<br /><br />Their mission there is to assist in the education of the children so that they have the opportunity to enhance their lives and those of the community.<br /><br />Malaysiakini recently met up with the SOLS team in Timor Leste. <br /><br />Camera & Editing by Indrani Kopal
