French photojournalist Halim Berbar, one of the media personnel assaulted at the Permatang Pauh by-election on nomination day on Aug 16, said that he was not interested in blaming anyone for the incident but instead condemned violence against all press members. <br /> <br />"As journalists we have every right to carry out our duties without fear of harassment and physical assaults," said Berbar. <br /> <br />In a memorandum submitted to parliamentarians today, Berbar appealed to government and opposition representatives to recognise and respect the role of the media in the country.
