Start from the hanging position. Make sure your elbows are completely locked out. You can bend at the knees but you cannot raise your knees towards your chest as you pull up. You must pull up till your chin clears the bottom part of the rings. When you lower, make sure your elbows lock out before you begin the next repetition.
