Hacked Filter from a Computer fan powered by a USB port <br /> <br />I an unused Computer fan so I used it to make a simple basic Hacked Filter from a Computer fan that is powered by a USB port <br /> <br />The Computer fan is a 12 volt fan and a USB is 5 volts so I use a boost convertor to increase the voltage from the 5 volt USB to the 12 volts to drive the fan. <br /> <br />For filters I use Carbon Fibre Oven hood filters. These may cut to size using household scissors and washed and dried a number of times to cleaned of any collected, (filtered out partials). <br /> <br />These may be used quite a number of times before replacing. <br /> <br />This works quite well at catching some airborne particles. <br /> <br />I would not say it filters any smells or odours', etc... <br /> <br />The fan I used was an unused fan from a BitFenix Shinobi XL Tower computer case:- <br />BitFenix Spectre™ fans. 230mm diameter <br /> <br />The Boost convert:- <br />Boost Buck Voltage Module Step Up/Down Converter Regulator 3-35V or 2.2-30V eBay Seller Seller : accecity-ca <br /> <br />The carbon filters Carbon Fibre Oven hood filters, these come in a sheet that may be cut to size, with care you will most likely get two.
