Nicki Minaj is stepping behind the camera for her latest venture.<br />ABC Family has picked up a comedy exec produced by the singer and rapper to series, the channel announced Tuesday.<br />The half-hour, single-camera comedy is based on Minaj's family's immigration from Trinidad in the early '90s.<br />The untitled series will center on her childhood in Queens with her vibrant family and how her evolution led to her eventual rise to international fame.<br />The project will shoot in Minaj's hometown of Queens, New York starting this winter.<br />"This is one of the more unique adventures I've ever embarked on," said Minaj in a statement.<br />"I couldn't be more proud and excited to team up with an amazing group of people to give the world something really special."
