The Evil Empire Strikes again.<br />Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams says he was told by the league he would not be permitted to wear pink throughout the season to honor his mother Sandra Hill.<br />Hill died of breast cancer last May.<br />The NFL cited uniform policy in their refusal to allow Williams to wear pink wristbands or shoes, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.<br />The NFL participates in Breast Cancer Awareness month by permitting players and coaches to wear pink accessories during the month of October.<br />The NFL donates about eight percent of the revenue generated by sales of pink accessories to the American Cancer Society for research purposes.<br />Over 50 percent of the sales are given back to the retailer.<br />According to Fowler, Williams told ESPN’s Lisa Salters that breast cancer awareness is “not just about October” and he choses to honor victims, including his mother, year round.
