Colombia’s Attorney General has announced that he will challenge Wednesday’s Constitutional Court decision to grant adoption rights to same-sex couples. Colombian courts are gradually expanding homosexual rights, but this is appeal is a step backwards, say activists. “To impede a child from having a family based only on sexual orientation or the gender of a person or a couple represents an unacceptable restriction on the rights of the child, and furthermore, is contrary to the interests of the minor,” said the President of Colombia’s Constitutional Court. teleSUR
