Argentina: Presidential Candidates Differ on Pensions

2015-11-12 0 Dailymotion

The two candidates in Argentina's November 22 run-off presidential elections have sharply counterposed ideas on pensions. During the neoliberal governments from 1976 to 2003, pensions were frozen or increased minimally. But under progressive administrations whose continuity is represented by the Front for Victory (FPV) and its candidate Daniel Scioli, pensions rose 2,000%. Scioli pledges to peg pensions to 82% of the minimum wage. His conservative opponent, Mauricio Macri, says he does not envision increasing pensions if he is elected.
