The US House of Representatives has voted on a bill requiring security screening for Syrian and Iraqi refugees that is so strict and comprehensive that it effectively blocks President Barack Obama’s refugee settlement plan. The US was planning to accept 30,000 refugees from Syria in 2016, after hundreds of thousands flooded into Europe this summer.
