Le lac Nasser constitue un réservoir de 162 milliards de m³ (soit 162 km³) d'eau en plein désert de haute Égypte.<br />Créé à l'issue de la construction du barrage d’Assouan, entre 1958 et 1970, il est alimenté par les eaux du seul Nil.<br />Lors de sa construction, plusieurs milliers de villages nubiens furent évacués. Une centaine de milliers de Nubiens ont « bien voulu » sacrifier leur terre ancestrale pour le bien de tous les Égyptiens. Ce travail est une manière de leur dire : « Merci ».<br />--<br />Lake Nasser represents a 162-billion-m³ water reservoir (that is to say 162 km³) in the middle of the desert in Upper Egypt.<br />It was created as a result of the construction of the Aswan High Dam, between 1958 and 1970, and all of its water comes from the Nile.<br />When it was under construction, thousands of Nubian villages had to be evacuated. About a hundred thousand Nubians “agreed” to sacrifice their ancestral land for the good of all Egyptians. This work is a way of thanking them.
