Officials at the United States Transportation department are updating their position on the self driving car technology, several news organizations reported Friday.<br />Raymond H. "Ray" LaHood, the Transportation head that time, said that the policy's goal is to ensure the safety of passengers - whether it's in the car of today, or "(in) fully automated vehicles of the future."<br />In March, the search giant's automated automobile head Chris Urmson said the Google driverless car platform is doing three million miles of testing daily to ensure safety.<br />Unlike the Google Car which can drive itself using the company's intelligent algorithm, the Tesla update allows the Model S "to steer within a lane, change lanes with the simple tap of a turn signal, and manage speed by using active, traffic-aware cruise control."
