The most exquisite space physics experiment yet devised in Europe goes into orbit on Thursday. <br />Lisa Pathfinder will test technologies for a future mission to detect gravitational waves. <br />These are ripples in the fabric of space-time that are produced when black holes collide and stars explode. <br />Some of Lisa Pathfinder's instrumentation was produced at Glasgow University by Dr Harry Ward and his team. <br />Seeking gravitational waves in space
