The UK would be less safe, less well off and less influential if it were to leave the EU, Sir John Major has told the BBC. <br />The former prime minister told The Andrew Marr Show that the UK would "survive" an exit from the union but that it would have to "face the consequences". <br />His comments follow the revelation that former defence secretary Liam Fox will vote for the UK to leave the European Union.
