<p>Burundi has been rocked by unrest since April when the ruling party selected incumbent President Pierre Nkurunziza as its candidate for a third term in office. Nkurunziza has since successfully navigated street protests, a failed coup and elections. </p><br />But the country was rocked by its worst violence since the start of the crisis on December 11, a day dubbed locally as "Black Friday".
