Male Screech Owl calling the female marks the beginning of the 2016 mating season. He is using two different mating calls - the first one is unique and I have not heard before - he holds this one call for a minute, the second song is the traditional screech owl call. Courtship is progressing ahead of schedule as the female is already accepting the nest box and the male is hunting for food to present her.
