Every 14 hours a woman is murdered in Honduras, the highest rate in Central America. Increased militarization of society over the past five years has only exacerbated the level of violence and impunity. In response, social organizations have been demanding the creation of a special investigative unit. Although congress approved its creation, it only allocated US$1.5 million in funding.
