People in Peebles made a desperate bid to shore up their flood defences and stop water getting through. <br />They tried to stem the flow with barriers and bags but could not stop the water getting through a gap in a wall. <br />Power cuts, widespread flooding and landslips have been reported as Storm Frank continues to batter Scotland.
