Sarvangasana is a very good form of yoga posture, which is a very important asana in Hatha Yoga. it improves overall body functions and is beneficial for all kinds of body related mechanisms.<br /><br />Meaning :<br /><br />Sarva means all anga means body parts and asana means posture. So Sarvangasana means a yoga pose for the entire body.<br /><br />History :<br /><br />Sarvanagasana is said to be existing since the time of ancient sages in India and has come a long way in making its position supreme in yogasana.<br /><br />Technique :<br /><br /> First, take a deep breath and raise the back as well as the legs into a vertical position.<br /> Now place the hands on the upper part of the back and rest the chin against the chest.<br /> Now focus on your toes and continue breathing normally.<br /> The waist, legs and back should be in one straight line at an angle of ninety degrees.<br /> Inhale while releasing the position and exhale while bending at the waist.<br /> Lower the leg over the head and then take off the hands from behind.<br /> Inhale and bring the back down all the while keeping the legs at an angle of ninety degrees.<br /> Exhale slowly and bring the legs to the straight position.<br /><br />Benefits :<br /><br /> It improves the functions of the internal glands like pituitary, thyroid, and parathyroid and increases the flow of blood in the body.<br /> Improves functioning of endocrine glands.<br /> Improves supply of blood to the entire system especially to the eyes, brain, ears etc.<br /> It improves the capacity of the lungs and provides the right kind of system to remove toxins from the system.<br /> Aids in preventing varicose veins and detoxifies the body.<br /> Relieves stress and eliminates fatigue.<br /> Improves the Digestive capacity and has a positive effect on the body.<br /><br />Care should be taken that people suffering from menstrual problems, Heart problems, high blood pressure should not do this asana.<br />Sarvangasana is a great form of release of unwanted energy thus curing all symptoms of asthma well.
