The 2016 Golden Globes host drew jeers during his opening monologue Sunday after making a controversial joke about Caitlyn Jenner and the transgender movement.<br />"Suggesting a joke about Caitlin Jenner is automatically transphobic is like suggesting a joke about Bill Cosby is automatically racist," he tweeted, invoking the name of the disgraced comedian .<br />On Sunday, the repeat Globes host joked during the opening monologue that he was planning to be nicer this year.<br />"I've changed.<br />Not as much as Bruce Jenner, obviously – now Caitlyn Jenner, of course.<br />What a year she's had.<br />She became a role model for trans people everywhere," he said, saying she's showed "great bravery."<br />Shortly after the awards show, Gervais took to Instagram to post an image of himself onstage during the show, making it clear he was making no apologies for his envelope-pushing remarks.
