The forgotten men of Bomber Command were finally acknowledged with a London memorial in 2012 .... <br />over 60 years too late for many. <br /> <br />Bomber Command consisted of over 125,000 volunteers from all over the Commonwealth. They endured losses greater than those of any other service. <br /> <br />The average age of an aircrew was twenty-two. Survival odds were less than 1 in 4 for a tour of 30 operations. <br /> <br />Victory however, came at a cost.
