Thousands of rail passengers in China have been left stranded after adverse weather delayed trains. <br /><br /> In what’s known as the world’s largest annual mass migration, millions of people are heading back to their towns and villages for the start of the Chinese New Year holiday. <br /><br /> One stranded passenger said the train schedule has changed three times.<br /><br /> “At first it changed to 9 p.m. then 10, now it says it’s delayed and the time of departure is undecided,” he said.<br /><br /> More than 55,000 passengers were left stranded at a station in the southern city of Guangzhou after a rare snowfall delayed trains.<br /><br /> Chinese travellers are expected to make 2.9 billion trips during the 40 period which started two weeks ago (January 21).<br /><br /> Most of those trips will fall around the Lunar New Year on February 8.
