Parliament of India consists of the President and the two Houses known as the Council of States (Rajya Sabha) and the House of the People (Lok Sabha).The drafting Committee under BR Ambedkar recommended the parliamentary type of government. On 26th January 1950 the constitution of India came into force and this Constituent assembly became the Provincial Parliament of India. Passing of Bills and making of laws are the main duties of both the houses of the parliament.
