Elton John performed a free concert at noon Saturday at the site of the old Tower Records store on Sunset Boulevard.<br />The singer made the announcement Friday night and again Saturday morning on his official Twitter account.<br />The 68-year-old pop star released his latest album earlier this month, titled "Wonderful Crazy Night."<br />Speaking of surprises, John was joined on stage by Lady Gaga, close friend and godmother to the singer's two children.<br />The legendary performer told lots of stories, like performing for the first time in Los Angeles 46 years ago.<br />John said he played the concert in West Hollywood to thank the city for its long-standing support of his Elton John AIDS Foundation and his post-Oscars party.
