Rs 1000 crore allocated for higher education in Budget-2016-17

New Delhi, Feb 29 (ANI): Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley has allocated Rs 1000 crores as financing for higher education in the Union Budget proposals for 2016-17. The government further plans to open 62 new Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya’s and start a digital literacy scheme for rural India.Jaitley said that the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana skill one crore youth in the next three years. In last year's budget, allocation to the education sector, including mid-day meals was trimmed to Rs. 68,968 crore from Rs. 70,505 crore allotted in the previous budget.
