Armed rebels and government forces clashed in a town in the countryside of Syria's Hama province on Sunday (March 13), a video posted on the Internet purported to show. <br /> <br />The video, said to be filmed in the town of Sakhir, appeared to show the aftermath of several air strikes. Fighters using truck-mounted heavy machine guns could also be seen firing into the distance. <br /> <br />U.N.-sponsored peace talks are set to begin in Geneva on Monday (March 14). Syria's main opposition group is to attend but has accused the government of President Bashar al-Assad of preparing to escalate the war to strengthen its negotiating position. <br /> <br />A cessation of hostilities agreement, implemented two weeks ago, has reduced the violence but not completely stopped the fighting.
