New Delhi, Mar 22 (ANI): Thousands of people from different communities have gathered at the shrine decorated with flowers and lamps to attend the 779th Urs of Mai Sahiba in the capital city. The shrine was visited by a large number of devotees, especially women, because of a belief that Mai Sahiba cannot bear the sorrow of women and bestows her blessings on them. Buried in her own house after death, Hazrat Mai Sahiba Bibi Zulekha passed away in 1250, long before her son Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya came to be known as a great mystic Sufi Saint himself. She has always preached the tenets of peace, brotherhood, unity and harmony. Vegetarian food and Mai Sahiba’s favourite dishes, Chana and Aloo Pulao known as Tehri, was also distributed among the devotees. Later, special prayers were offered for the welfare of all communities across the world. Qawwals from all over the world offered their prayers in an overnight recital of love songs at the dargah, which was decorated with roses, to mark the death anniversary of the great woman.
