Major U.S. cities are proposing supervised heroin injection facilities in an effort to get addicts off the street and into treatment.<br />The consideration comes in the wake of a record spike in deaths from opioid drug overdoses.<br />More than 47,000 Americans died from drug overdoses, most due to opioid pain relievers and heroin, in 2014, According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.<br />Some opponents say this idea only encourages addition, and it’s illegal.
