In 2004, Dr. N. Santhakumari lost her property and wealth, and was under severe economic crisis. She was researching on the fishing community of Nagapattinam district when the 2004 Tsunami struck. In 2007, she pursued her PhD in the same topic and went on to become the assistant professor in AVC Polytechnic College.<br /><br />She believes that the Tsunami has change her opinion about life and things in general.
