Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau introduced a legislation Thursday to make it legal for Canadians with serious medical conditions to undergo doctor-assisted suicide.
The new legislation specifies that, if passed, it would solely apply for residents of Canada and exclude tourists who might visit in hopes of qualifying.
The law also excludes those with mental illness and notes that Canadians are banned from making preemptive plans for assisted death.
Trudeau’s legislation will probably pass because of the liberal majority in the House of Commons, but conservative opinion may delay the June deadline.
