Footage has emerged from the US of baby spiny softshell turtles hatching. <br /><br />The video, filmed at rom Grand Isle County late last year by a worker at Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department, shows a baby turtle struggling to get out of its egg whilst another one takes its first steps. <br /><br />These turtles are one of the largest freshwater turtle species in North America. They get their name from the spiny, cone-like projections on the leading edge of their carapaces.
