George Clooney has attended a remembrance service at the Armenian Genocide memorial in Yerevan, a century on from the event.<br />Clooney joined the president of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan in the solemn ceremony a day after the actor called for the events of 1915 to be recognised internationally as genocide.<br />Armenians say the Ottoman Empire killed 1.5million of its people, beginning on April 24, 1915.<br />Clooney, who is visiting Armenia for the first time, will later hand out a £700,000 award as part of a humanitarian event held to recognise those who put themselves at risk to save the lives of others.
