Underwater footage of a huge abandoned fishing net off the coast of the Maldives, demonstrating the danger they pose to fish and large sea animals such as turtles. <br /><br />The video, filmed off the coast of Huraa, shows dead fish hanging from the net while smaller fish feed on the carcass. <br /><br />The filmer, a conservationist looking to raise awareness about the dangers of ocean plastic and abandoned fishing equipment, later wrote online: "Every year upwards of 640,000 tonnes of ghost gear are produced worldwide. <br /><br />"They continue to catch and kill animals causing thousands to die every year."
