After a lot of speculations, it’s now confirmed that the release date of Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Raees’ has been pushed to January 26. It was originally slated to release this Eid and clash with Salman Khan’s much anticipated film ‘Sultan’.

In a joint statement, the film’s producers Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani and Shah Rukh Khan stated – “It was not an easy decision to move the film. We understand that this film is highly anticipated. However, a movie of such magnitude requires the appropriate showcasing and therefore, we have decided to shift our release date to 26th January 2017.”

According to sources, the makers of the film contemplated releasing the film towards the end of 2016, but there are a lot of releases by A-listers slated around that time. With films starring actors like Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Ranbir Kapoor, etc taking away all the holiday weekends, finding a suitable date for ‘Raees’ did become a challenge.

However, SRK’s film will still face some competition on Republic Day as an Ajay Devgn-starrer film and a Hrithik Roshan-starrer film are set to release on the same day.
