<p>Thousands of police officers were deployed to control a series of demonstrations in Berlin on Saturday, May 7. Far-right groups organized a protest under the banner, “Merkel must go.” The demonstrators had taken issue with what they described</a> as the chancellor’s “open door” immigration policy.</p><p>A series of counter-demonstrations also took place, including a “Nazi-free” rally in the German capital.</p><br /><p>Deutsche Welle reported that almost 2,000</a> police officers were deployed to keep control of the demonstrations.</p><br /><p>This video shows police struggling to keep opposing demonstrators apart.
