As police across France staged demonstrations under tight security against the "anti-cop hatred," in Paris some 300 protesters defied a ban and staged a counter-demonstration that led to a police car being set on fire near the rally. Two officers were inside the car but scrambled out in time to avoid injury, an AFP journalist reported.
