The nation’s top spy, James Clapper, said hackers, possibly working for foreign governments, are trying to spy on the Democratic and Republican presidential campaigns.<br />Clapper did not offer details on specific intrusions or attribution to any hacker group or state.<br />The FBI and DHS are working to educate the campaigns about cyber threats.<br />Hackers working for foreign governments can gain valuable insight into a presidential candidate’s mindset prior to taking office, or uncover private communications to give their country a boost in diplomatic negotiations.
