Elgato Game Capture HD Delay Test

2016-05-21 13 Dailymotion

So a little while back Elgato announced the Game Capture HD 60 Pro, and with it a new feature called Instant Gameview. This feature has now also debuted in a new capture device they recently announced called the Game Capture HD 60 S.

I'll be testing that card soon, but for now, I wanted people to see, who have never had an Elgato capture card before, why the Instant Gameview feature is such a big deal.

The games tested are: Destiny's PVP Crucible (0:06), Bloodborne (1:19), Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (3:03), and Destiny's PVE mission: A New Den (4:41).

The original Elgato Game Capture HD (and the follow-up HD 60) both use a USB 2.0 connection to the computer, so there's only so much data they can send through it at a time, this resulted in a 2 to 3 second delay between what you did, and what showed up in the Elgato preview.

Now to be fair, this didn't affect recording, as that was always perfectly synced and accurate, this only affected you if you were trying to play through the software or if you planned on streaming with the thing (as it added a .23 second delay to your commentary)

This is why most people went with the capture device options from AverMedia if they planned on streaming to Twitch or something.

Let this video serve as a warning for those who wanted to stream or play through the software window instead of wherever the passthrough HDMI went.

➥ Follow me on Social Media:
https://www.facebook.com/adventseph
https://www.advent-seph.tumblr.com
https://www.twitter.com/adventseph
https://www.vine.co/adventseph
https://www.instagram.com/adventseph
https://www.youtube.com/adventseph
https://soundcloud.com/hasan-chattha
