Footage of an astonishing amount of snow fleas turning the snow black in Tula Oblast, Russia.<br /><br />The video, filmed on February 7, shows the tiny insects gathered together, covering the surface of the snow so that it turns completely black. <br /><br />According to the filmer, "springtails are actually quite common and abundant, but they're so tiny they tend to blend in and go unnoticed.<br /><br />"Remarkably, snow fleas don't freeze in the winter thanks to a special kind of protein in their bodies." <br /><br />"They may be disgusting but are no risk for humans and are just having fun in the snow," he continued.
