Britain’s Duke of Edinburgh, Queen Elizabeth’s 94-year-old husband will miss events in Orkney to mark 100 years since the Battle of Jutland on “doctor’s advice”.<br /><br /> It’s not the first time that ill health has forced him to pull out of events – from 2011 to 2013 he was hospitalised four times for a variety of ailments.<br /> This time he has not attended hospital and its believed has no plans to cancel other engagement.<br /><br /> The Duke of Edinburgh’s health – a timeline https://t.co/FAN9JsMoxm pic.twitter.com/3SGqoV0KrR— Royal Central (@RoyalCentral) May 30, 2016<br /><br /> The Battle of Jutland – the biggest naval engagement of World War One – began on 31 May 1916 when the Royal Navy’s Grand Fleet, based at Scapa Flow, Orkney, clashed with the German High Seas Fleet.<br /><br /> About 250 ships were involved and more than 8,000 men died.<br /><br /> Prince Albert – later King George VI and the duke’s father-in-law – fought at Jutland aboard HMS Collingwood and was mentioned in dispatches.
