PARIS — A French police commander and his wife were stabbed to death in a Paris suburb on Monday by a neighbor who reportedly pledged allegiance to ISIS. <br /> <br />Witnesses told police the attacker shouted “Allahu akbar” (God is the greatest) as he repeatedly stabbed Jean-Baptiste Salvaing, 42, outside his home in Magnanville, 35 miles northwest of the French capital, the Guardian reported. <br /> <br />Salvaing was the assistant police chief in Les Mureaux, a nearby district, according to the Guardian. <br /> <br />The attacker held the policeman’s wife and 3-year-old son inside their home as police tried to negotiate, before loud detonations were heard and special forces officers stormed the building. <br /> <br />The attacker was shot and killed by officers, Russia Today reported, citing France TV Info. Officers discovered the policeman’s wife dead and the couple’s son unharmed, according to the Guardian. <br /> <br />The ISIS-linked Amaq News Agency said the so-called Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack, according to the U.S.-based Site Intelligence Group, the Guardian reported.
