Footage has emerged of a large basking shark swimming close to a group of kayaking schoolchildren.<br /><br />The video, captured at Cape Clear, Ireland on Saturday, shows the shark passing within just a couple of metres of the students.<br /><br />"Lots of basking sharks have been coming to West Cork," the filmer wrote online.<br /><br />"This group of school kids got really lucky when one of the 9 sharks in South Harbour swam right through the middle of them."<br /><br />According to theshark.dk - a reference website on sharks - basking sharks feed on plankton, and as such pose no threat to humans.
