Mourners have gathered around the world for a vigil in memory of murdered British lawmaker Jo Cox, on what would have been her 42nd birthday.<br /><br /> The family of murdered MP Jo Cox in Trafalgar Square for a vigil https://t.co/hYLaMoLlw2 pic.twitter.com/OcW8hDHJ97— Reuters UK (@ReutersUK) June 22, 2016<br /><br /> The MP for Batley and Spen in West Yorkshire died after being attacked in the street in her constituency in northern England last week.<br /><br /> The attack shocked the country and has led to an outpouring of sympathy around the globe for the committed humanitarian campaigner.<br /><br /> Jo Cox’s husband Brendan addressed those gathered in Trafalgar Square.<br /><br /> “Since Thursday, Cullin, Lejla and I have spoken every day about the things we will miss, the memories we will cherish.”<br /><br /> “We try to remember not how cruelly she’s been taken from us, but how unbelievably lucky we were to have her in our lives for so long.”<br /><br /> Trafalgar Square<br /><br /> Among those paying tribute in London were:<br /><br /> Malala Yousafzai, who became the youngest-ever Nobel Peace Prize laureate in 2014<br /><br /> “Jo’s life is a proof that the message of peace is more powerful than any weapon of war.
