Comedian Aziz Ansari accused Donald Trump of creating a dangerous environment for American Muslims with his "vitriolic and hate-filled" campaign rhetoric.<br />"It's visceral, and scary, and it affects how people live, work and pray," Ansari wrote in a New York Times op-ed.<br />"It makes me afraid for my family."<br />The piece begins with a text message exchange between Ansari and his mother, in which he advises her to stay away from mosques in the aftermath of the Orlando shooting.<br />“As I sent that text,” writes Ansari, “I realised how awful it was to tell an American citizen to be careful about how she worshipped.”<br />Trump, who has proposed to ban Muslim immigrants from entering the US, "does nothing to address the real problems posed by terrorist attacks," Ansari stressed.
