OCEANSIDE, CALIFORNIA — A suspected drunken driver killed a pedestrian in a vicious hit-and-run Monday, driving for a mile with the victim’s body stuck in the front seat, Oceanside police said. <br /> <br />The collision occurred at about 6:20 a.m. on the 4000 block of Mission Avenue when witnesses reported seeing a man who was walking on the sidewalk being hit by a car, police said. <br /> <br />Authorities said Esteysi Sanchez Izazaga, 29, who goes by Stacy Sanchez, drove her vehicle onto the sidewalk and hit the man. <br /> <br />Police believe that Izazaga may have been driving while intoxicated. <br /> <br />Because of the speed of the car, the victim flew through the windshield, landing face down, coming to a rest on the front passenger seat, according to an NBC 7 report. <br /> <br />The man’s leg detached from his body and flew through the back window, landing on the trunk of Izazaga’s car, police said. <br /> <br />Izazaga continued driving for about a mile, eventually parking her vehicle in a neighborhood cul-de-sac and walking away, police said. <br /> <br />Witnesses called police, who found Izazaga a few blocks away, according to NBC 7. <br /> <br />She was arrested and charged with felony DUI, felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter. Izazaga was booked into the Vista Detention Facility. <br /> <br />Authorities are working on contacting the victim’s family before making his name public.
