Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, facing scathing criticism in the wake of an official inquiry into the Iraq War, held a press conference Wednesday expressing regret over the findings of the Chilcot report.<br />"For all of this, I express more sorrow, regret and apology than you will ever know."<br />Blair said he accepted full responsibility for the decision to go to war, but rejected the argument that terrorism today stemmed from the invasion of Iraq.<br />However, he did say that Iraq could have been in a worse predicament had Saddam Hussein remained in power.<br />Blair said he had made the decision based on the threats he perceived at the time, in the interest of protecting the country.
