U.S. musician Taylor Swift has released an online statement on Monday (July 18) criticising the release of a phone call she had with rapper Kanye West. <br /> <br />West's wife, socialite Kim Kardashian West, posted a Snapchat video of her husband appearing to speak to Swift on a speakerphone. <br /> <br />West appears to inform Swift that he was referring to her in his controversial new song 'Famous' in which he refers to her as 'that bitch'. <br /> <br />The voice which is apparently Swift's is then heard saying that she appreciates Kanye telling her about the reference and that it can be regarded as 'tongue-in-cheek'. <br /> <br />The hashtag #KimExposedTaylorParty trended on Twitter for a number of hours since the release of the Snapchat video. <br /> <br />But Swift has since responded with an online statement criticising the video and calling it 'character assassination'. <br /> <br />She said, 'You cannot 'approve' a song you haven't heard' and that she has been 'falsely painted as a liar'.
