TAOYUAN, TAIWAN — A tour bus carrying a group of Chinese tourists caught on fire on a highway near Taiwan’s capital city of Taipei on Tuesday, killing 26 people. <br /> <br />The bus was traveling westbound on Freeway No. 2 in Taoyuan around 1 p.m., just three kilometers from Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport, when it caught on fire and began swaying from side to side before crashing into a guardrail, which caused the fire to spread faster. <br /> <br />Authorities said there were no survivors, even though the bus was equipped with eight emergency exits and four emergency windows. <br /> <br />Those killed included the driver and 24 tourists from the Chinese province of Liaoning who were visiting Taiwan on an eight-day tour. <br /> <br />The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
