DETROIT — Elizabeth Rivera, 71, died after being mauled to death by a pet pit bull inside her own home. <br /> <br />According to the Detroit Free Press, Rivera lived with four pit bulls in her home in Southwest Detroit. <br /> <br />Police believe that around 8 p.m. on Saturday, one dog attacked the old lady and knocked her down. The pit bull then bit her on the throat, severing her jugular vein. <br /> <br />When Rivera’s granddaughter arrived home, she found her grandmother bleeding from the vicious mauling. Rivera died at the scene. <br /> <br />All four pit bulls were taken in by Animal Control. <br /> <br />WDIV reports that the dogs have no history of violent behavior, and authorities have yet to determine what caused the attack, and if only one or all four were involved.
