ST. JOSEPH, MICHIGAN — Two bailiffs were shot and killed by a prisoner at a courthouse in St. Joseph, Michigan on Monday before police shot the gunman dead. <br /> <br />The inmate was being escorted to court from a holding cell on the third floor of the Berrien County Courthouse when he grabbed a sheriff’s deputy’s gun, WZZM reported. <br /> <br />Police identified the gunman as Larry Gordon, 45, who was being held on numerous felony charges. <br /> <br />Gordon shot and injured sheriff’s deputy James Atterberry, 41, before killing court bailiffs Joe Zangaro, 61, and Ron Kienzle, 63. Both of the deceased were retired police officers. <br /> <br />Gordon also shot civilian Kenya Ellis in the arm as he tried to escape, before he was shot dead by police officers. <br /> <br />Atterberry and Ellis were both taken to the hospital for treatment.
