Remarkable aerial footage has emerged showing the world's deepest underwater sinkhole.<br /><br />The video, captured on Tuesday, shows the huge sinkhole located in the South China Sea. <br /><br />Researchers announced this week that the sinkhole, known to local fishermen as the 'Dragon Hole', is probably the world's deepest, reaching about 987 feet below the surface.<br /><br />Due to the discovery, China's Sansha City has decided to allocate 5 million yuan ($748,000) annually for maritime environmental conservation over the next three years.<br /><br />The funds will be used to support scientific research and development of new methods and equipment in environmental protection, said Shi Guoning, a senior official in Sansha's Land Resources and Environmental Protection Bureau.
